My father, Buck, died on September 2nd, 2020. In the COVID-19 world, remembrance and grief and ritual are all twisted — the family can’t gather, mourners can’t physically connect — and I felt trapped by the unfinished feeling of my father’s death.
My podcast Supercontext, currently on hiatus, still has an active Patreon campaign to keep the feed of all the episodes up and running. Any listener who has heard more than a few episodes has heard me talk about my dad, my relationship to him, and my unresolved anger and regret over big chunks of our lives together. Some of the Supercontext listeners feel like close friends, despite my never meeting them, and there are a few that I know very well. I wanted to share my immediate experience with them, and you can read that here.
